8mm & Super 8 Film Transfer in South Extension, Delhi — convert any tapes/reels.
We scan and capture 8mm, Super 8, VHS and nearly every home-movie format frame by frame, then hand you clean HD files you can actually watch, share and keep. Based in South Extension I, we're a short drive from Greater Kailash, Lajpat Nagar, Hauz Khas and Defence Colony, with pickup and drop-off available across South Delhi and NCR.
No footage is ever re-recorded or re-shot — every frame is scanned direct from the original.
Start of reel · frame count
If it holds a home movie, we can likely scan it.
Every format is inspected by hand before it goes anywhere near a scanner. Don't see yours listed — ask us; the list below isn't complete.
8mm & Super 8 reels
VHS & video tapes
Regular 8mm
Reels from the 1930s–60s, scanned frame by frame at full resolution.
Super 8
Including sound-on-film cartridges, with audio synced to picture.
16mm
Home and institutional reels, silent or optical sound.
35mm
Larger-gauge reels, scanned on equipment built for the bigger frame.
VHS
Standard VHS cassettes, converted from tape to DVD or HD video on broadcast decks.
VHS-C
Camcorder cassettes, played back with a compatible adaptor.
Hi8 / Digital8
Analog and digital 8mm video cassettes from camcorders.
MiniDV
Digital tape, transferred without generational quality loss.
Betamax
Sony Betamax cassettes, played back on serviced decks.
Small frames need more than a straight transfer.
8mm and Super 8 frames are tiny, so flaws that would barely register on a larger gauge show up clearly once scanned. We treat restoration as part of the transfer, not an upsell — steadying warped reels, correcting decades of color fade, and cleaning up dust and scratches frame by frame. It's the difference people notice most on reels that have sat in a box for 40 or 50 years.
Negative scanning, slide scanning and prints, brought back too.
Boxes of film don't usually travel alone — negatives, slide trays and old prints tend to come with them. Our negative scanning and slide scanning are done at the same resolution standard as our film transfers, whatever format you have.
35mm negatives
Strips and rolls scanned individually, frame by frame.
120 negatives
Medium-format rolls from twin-lens and folding cameras.
110 negatives
Compact-cartridge negatives from pocket cameras.
Slide scanning
35mm, medium-format and glass-mounted slides, any tray or carousel.
Photo restoration
Torn edges, water damage, fading and missing sections are repaired by hand on scanned prints, so the physical original never needs to be touched again once it's digitized.
Sound gets the same frame-by-frame care.
Reel-to-reel tape, cassettes and vinyl all degrade differently than film, so each goes through equipment built for that specific format rather than a one-size-fits-all capture chain.
Reel-to-reel
Spool tape transferred to digital or CD, speed-matched to the original.
Cassettes & micro cassettes
Standard and micro cassettes, cleaned and captured to digital or CD.
LP records
Vinyl played back and captured to digital, click and pop reduced.
DAT tape
Digital audio tape transferred without additional generational loss.
Same footage. Every scratch removed, none of the memory lost.
We stabilize warped film, correct faded color, and clean up tape noise — without smoothing away the character of the original.
Five reels, start to finish.
Every order moves through the same five stages — you can check in on any of them.
Send it in
Ship your reels and tapes to our lab, or drop them off if you're local. We log every item by hand as it arrives.
Inspect and clean
Each reel or cassette is checked for damage, splices, and mold, then hand-cleaned before it goes anywhere near a scanner.
Scan or capture
Film is scanned frame by frame; tape is captured in real time on broadcast-grade decks. Nothing is re-shot off a screen.
Color correct and stabilize
We balance faded color, reduce flicker and jitter, and clean up tape noise frame by frame.
Deliver your files
You get HD digital files by download or on a drive, and your originals back safely packed.
A few things worth knowing before you transfer.
Notes from the lab on identifying what you have and looking after it until it's digitized.

Ajanta Digital Studio grew out of a photography business that's been operating for more than eight decades, so film and print handling isn't a sideline for us — it's where we started. That background is why families and institutions trust us with reels and negatives that can't be reshot if something goes wrong, and it's reflected in the quality of the work we hand back. We're based in South Extension I in South Delhi, and we work with clients across the wider Delhi NCR area.
Good to know before you ship anything.
Do I get my original reels and tapes back?
Yes. We only ever scan or capture from your originals — nothing is kept, copied, or discarded. Everything ships back with your finished files.
What if my film has splices or my tape won't play?
Minor splice repairs are included at no extra charge. If a tape has more serious damage, we'll call to explain the options before doing any work.
What file formats do I get back?
Standard delivery is HD MP4, playable on any computer, phone or smart TV. Other formats are available on request.
How long does a typical order take?
Most orders are ready in two to three weeks. Rush turnaround is available for an additional fee — ask when you request your quote.
